Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow vs. NYX Eyebrow Gel

I want waterproof everything.

If a guy (rudely) says he’s going to “take you swimming” on the first date, rise up and emerge from the water as the full beat goddess you are!

I’ve always had issues with my eyebrow products slipping and sliding. This is especially true in the Summer months when I’m drenched in sweat and constantly in the sun/on the beach. Although a lot of eyebrow products are advertised as being waterproof, many of them just don’t live up to these claims.

I finally felt like I had found my holy grail eyebrow product until I took a look at the price tag. Make Up For Ever’s Aqua Brow is mini at 0.23 oz and costs a whopping $29.

MUFE Aqua Brow – Straight off the bat: Easier to use, softer, more natural, feathered look.

Straight from the website

“…Aqua Brow is a highly pigmented gel that enhances and reshapes natural brows. Its superior waterproof formula creates a strong hold while its high concentration of pigments allows for intense color payoff that will not fade…”

I am unfortunate enough to have to fill in my eyebrows every day; it doesn’t matter how casual I am. I go out without anything on my face but my brows… and those are my “no make up” days. Because of this, I go through eyebrow products INSANELY fast. An eyebrow pencil will last me a month (if that even), and something like this gel or a pomade will last me 2 or 3 months with daily use. To be spending over a $100 on this product annually is a big no-no.

Then I heard that NYX had a highly raved brow gel (that compares to the aqua brow,) Could this be my new daily eyebrow product? At $7 for 0.34 oz, not only is it way cheaper, it comes with more product.

NYX Brow Gel – Straight off the bat: Much more pigmented, glides on, instagram ready brows.

Straight from the website

“…Keep your misbehaving brows in place with our discreet and easy-to-use brow gel! The lightweight waterproof formula creates thicker, fuller, natural-looking brows and comes in five versatile shades.”

Side by side comparison

The packaging looks very similar, with NYX having a slightly skinnier, longer tube.

The colours tend to run warmer for MUFE, making it easier to find a match for my chocolaty Brunette hair.

The formulas are very similar with NYX being a tad bit thicker.

Let’s see if both products live up to their waterproof, smudge proof, life proof claims!

  • Waterproof test – In the shower for 15 minutes, under direct water.
  • Smudge proof test – Rubbing back and forth for 5 seconds.
MUFE Aqua Brow – 100% Waterproof, I drenched my face and the product didn’t shift. Pretty impressed with how smudge proof it is as well. My eyebrow hairs were moved out of place but the product barely budged.
NYX Brow Gel – Also very waterproof, my eyebrows looked exactly the same after they were soaked as they did when they were freshly applied. This product did move more than the Aqua brow during the smudge test but for $7, I’m still really impressed.

Get out there and spend your money on the NYX Brow Gel, I promise you won’t miss your $7.

If you do, you know I got that money back guarantee.

I like the look of the NYX better than the other brand. And it’s a bonus it’s in my budget for makeup. Great post. I can’t wait to see more!
