Skin Salvation – My Spa Day With Skoah
Skin Salvation – My Spa Day With Skoah
As the months get colder and the days get shorter, our skin takes a turn for the worse.
You’re not alone. When the air is cold and dry our skin gets upset and tends to act out. According to skin care experts Winter is the worst season for acne. I found a really great article about this on Women’s Health, click here to check it out.
There’s a lot of things that we can do but sometimes we just don’t have the time, especially during the holidays. So what should we do you ask? Leave it to the experts!
I’ll admit, I always think about facials and how lovely they are but I just can’t ever find the time to go on a regular basis. So I decided to change that and MAKE the time.
Skoah Metrotown invited me in for an AMAZING 45 minute power facial and boy did I ever need it. I’ve been working long days, not sleeping or eating as well as I should be and definitely not taking the time to properly care for my skin. I had broken out terribly prior to going in so I was excited to finally treat my skin with the care and attention it deserves.
What’s so amazing about this location is that they’re open with the mall hours, meaning they tend to be open much later than stand alone spas. Metrotown is open until 9 pm everyday except for Sunday’s when they close at 7 pm. This makes it so convenient because scheduling an appointment won’t interfere with your work, school or personal schedules.
As soon as you step in, you’re greeted with friendly faces and in my case, hot chocolate! Perryn, who is the manager of the Metrotown location, helped me get settled in, answered every single one of my questions and really made me feel comfortable being a facial newbie.
I opted for the Power facial which is 45 minutes of pure bliss for $85.00.
In under an hour, you’ll enjoy muscle melting massage while powerful masks get your skin in shape. This full facial that includes exfoliation and extraction also includes extra attention to your peepers and pout – great for smoothing out your signs of wisdom.
Heavenly. I really mean it. I truly melted and it couldn’t have been a better day for it. Not only do you get an amazing facial, you’re treated with a back, neck and face massage. My aesthetician, Dayana was so lovely and patiently walked me through everything she was doing making this a great learning experience as well.
We started off with a double cleanse using their Kleansing Lotion She removed the cream based cleanser with Glow Tonik which contains glycoic acid, helping gently exfoliate and give the cleanser a great boost.
Dayana then went over my skin with the Turbo Tonik, seen above, to ensure my skin was balanced and ready to take on the next few steps.
Next is an amazing AHA mask called the “Minty Meltdown.” This can’t be bought in store and this is what makes this experience so unique and special. The mask goes on quiet cool and heats up in different areas around the face, exfoliating and renewing your skin with a lovely minty fresh scent.
Then we jumped into extractions which can sound scary but Skoah has an amazing “2 press” rule. If nothing is extracted after 2 presses, they move on. Aggravating the skin only worsens your acne causing pitting and scarring. When your skin is dehydrated it’s tough to get anything out but Dayana was able to go to town on these blackheads and I am forever grateful.
We then did another mask, called the Holiday Recover mask, also pictured above. This mask contains copper peptides to enhance skin healing, peppermint to improve circulation, and lavender to improve scarring and redness. This completely calmed down my skin and smelled so lovely, as does every single product from Skoah.
Dayana followed up with the Holiday Recovery Serum, leaving me soft and glowing and finished off with the Dewlux face cream, eye candy gel and the lip dip. I left brand new.
So here’s the deal – my skin was SO dry and chalky before. You can tell in the before picture how flat I look. My skin was not retaining and moisture and because of this it was irritated and breaking out.
In the after photo, my skin looks moisturized, supple, soft and glowing. My acne began to heal and I had some nice rosy colour to my cheeks again. This is after just one session. Could you imagine if I went on a regular basis and started treating my skin like the essential organ it is? Which by the way is exactly what I’ll be doing.
I used to scavenge through Groupon looking for good deals on facials. I would find myself at sketchy spas wondering if some of the products and tools they were using were sanitary. This is something you’ll never find yourself questioning at a proper spa. Skoah’s prices are reasonable, you get quality service and products and an amazing team of professionals.
Skoah has graciously provided my followers with a $85 facial for only $35! Each facial is personalized for you! You deserve to be pampered – Click here to book your fitskin facial at the Skoah Metrotown location.
I hope you’ll all be able to come in and leave glowing for your work parties, holiday celebrations and simply just for yourself. You deserve it, your skin deserves it!
