Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer vs. Radiant Creamy Concealer

Drinking game – Every time I say concealer, take a shot!

When I need extra coverage or want to quickly get ready without the hassle of putting on a full face of foundation, I grab a concealer. I believe that a good concealer can seriously change your life.

For years I solely used my radiant creamy concealer for highlighting my under eye area. The first time I used it on my acne and scarring I was blown away, the coverage is really full while still looking natural.

I have since given up wearing concealer under my eyes and opted for a really hydrating eye cream which is why you’ll still be able to see my bags in the following photos.

I think that makeup is what you want it to be, there are no rules you need to follow, no right or wrong, no mistakes. If you don’t want to cover your freckles, eye bags, or acne, you shouldn’t feel pressured to do so!

This is why I usually prefer a concealer over a foundation because I can pick and choose what I want people to see and what I want to hide.

Let’s talk about these products!

Nars Creamy Radiant Concealer – CAD $37 for 0.22 oz/ 6 ml

An award winning, all time favourite concealer. Highly raved and reviewed. It’s soft, creamy and buildable. It gives amazing coverage without looking or feeling heavy and doesn’t crease or break up easily.

Easy to use? Totally! The wand is a great applicator, just make sure you’re not sharing it with anyone. All you need to do is dot it on and tap away.

Coveted by artists for its luxurious texture and luminous finish, new Radiant Creamy Concealer evens skin with lightweight medium to high buildable coverage. Enriched with hydrating, multi-action skincare benefits and light diffusing technology, it creates a softer, smoother complexion while instantly obscuring imperfections and diminishing fine lines and signs of fatigue.

Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer – CAD $37 for 0.21 oz/ 6.21 ml

A newer, fuller coverage concealer from Nars. Blends out seamlessly, great for covering acne and scarring on its own or over foundation. Lasts all day and you can get away without setting it with a powder making it a quick and easy product to use.

Easy to use? Somewhat. I have a thing about makeup pots. I don’t really understand them and they get dirty so easily. I use a clean concealer brush, tap into the product and swipe onto my face. Make sure to wash your concealer brush after every use!

INSTANT RESULTS: Soft-focus blurring with high-performance coverage. Optimal Diffusion Powder helps maximize light diffusion with spherical surface powders designed to absorb and refract light for soft-focus perfection. High coverage with weightless wear. Advanced powders with a unique structure lay flat, staying in place without settling into fine lines and pores.

I use Custard in both the soft matte and the radiant creamy.

The swatches: My first impression was that the Soft Matte Complete Concealer was much more chalky where as you have a nice sheen to the Radiant Creamy Concealer.

I have read that the Radiant Creamy Concealer actually highlights since it’s “radiant” making it bad for spot concealing acne as you attract the eye to that spot. I don’t think that’s the case since it blends out pretty semi-matte leaving you with a “your skin but better” look. The shade I have matches my skin tone well enough that I can wear it on it’s own without looking ghostly.

Spot concealing a new pimple can be tough, especially when it’s red and irritated. The Soft Matte gives me a thicker coverage that I don’t need to work to build up, where as the Radiant Creamy gives me a medium-buildable coverage without looking cakey or noticeable. They both did great and held up wonderfully through an 8 hour work day and another 2-3 hours until I actually took off my make up.

You get almost the same amount of product for the same price, which one should you pick? I think this all comes down to your skin type and your preference. If you’re like me and need extra coverage on your oily skin, I would definitely go for the Soft Matte Complete. If you’re looking to highlight, give the skin a healthy and natural appearance, the Radiant Creamy is your man! I personally love them both and really think that they’re some of the best concealers that are currently on the market.

Have you tried either of these concealers out? What are your thoughts?
