Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz vs. NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Save or spend

You may have seen my last post where I pitted these two brands against each other and the outcome was not so favourable.

As many of you know, I am the poor girls advocate and I’m always cheering on my drugstore brands! You would think that higher prices result in a better product but a lot of the time that is not the case.

NYX has always impressed me with their product selection and quality. They keep pushing products out at relatively cheap prices. This keeps me from being broke and looking broke.

After using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz for ages and walking into my local drugstore to see a product that looks almost identical was shocking. After my first time using the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, I fell madly in love.

ABH Brow Wiz – CAD 27 | USD 21  NYX Micro Brow Pencil – CAD 12 | USD 10

I have used both the NYX Micro Brow Pencil (my current go to) and the ABH Brow Wiz for many moons. My love for makeup and myself started when I began to properly frame my face and use the right products on my eyebrows. Now, you’ll never see me without my eyebrows “on.”

Both NYX and ABH have a variety of different products for your brows, these two in particular bare the most resemblances. So do they just look the same, how about the performance? I’m going to just jump right in and let you know if you should save your money or splurge!

Although the spooly’s look eerily similar, I have to say that ABH takes the cake in this department. It’s spooly is much stiffer as a unit and each bristle is soft to the touch. This is not to say that NYX has a bad spooly, it’s just a bit harder. Both blend well and get the job done.

I got both eyebrow pencils in Taupe, as always. As you may or may not be able to see, the only major difference is that NYX has a slight gap at the bottom of the head.

Both the NYX and ABH eyebrow pencils are creamy and buildable. The packages are very similar though the shades are slightly different. Although I got both in the same shade, I noticed that NYX runs slightly more red where as ABH looks more true to colour.

The formula is also VERY slightly different. ABH Brow Wiz has a more waxy formula which takes more effort, it my opinion. NYX is more soft and chalky so you can get those precise hair like strokes easily.

They are both easy to work with but I find that ABH takes a tad bit longer to apply as it doesn’t give me the colour pay of I need.

Each have the same 0.003 oz of product. Although ABH feels heavier in the hand, don’t let this fool you, it’s just the packaging.

If you use your eyebrow pencil everyday, you’re going to run out of it quick! That’s why although a 10 dollar gap doesn’t seem that vast, when you’re constantly saving that money and going with the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, it adds up!

Save that money! The NYX Micro Pencil is not only cheaper than the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, it’s arguably even better.

Have you tried either of them out? What are your thoughts?
