L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise vs. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise vs. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise vs. Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Today we’re throwing a drugstore “dupe” and a high end cult favourite into the ring together!

With a price tag of about USD 10 | CAD 12, we’re praying that L’oreal is a dupe for Two Faced’s mascara which will set you back USD 23 | CAD 30. Yikes.

I’ve never believed in spending a small fortune on mascara. I throw out my mascara every 2-3 months as they’re basically a breeding ground for bacteria. So it feels like I’m basically throwing my money in the trash.

The packaging is a similar beautiful pink colour which makes me squeal like a little girl! Too faced definitely takes the cake in this department. Not only is it visibly more appealing with it’s beautiful raised font and simplistic design, it also feels heavier and there is an apparent quality difference when your holding them both in your hands.

This is not the biggest selling point for me, how do they perform? Does the packaging and design justify the price?

Left – L’oreal | Right – Too Faced

As you can see, L’oreal has a straight bristle brush where as Too Faced has a hourglass bristle brush.

I have extremely straight and fairly thin eyelashes. I always look for a mascara that will give me the length, curl and HOLD that I so desperately need in my life.

The thing is, for a 30 dollar mascara, I don’t want to be dealing with fall out and flakiness and let me tell you, Too Faced is guilty. GUILTY. The fall out is real. It gets in my eyes and all over my cheeks which can be pretty embarrassing. This is one of the reasons I’ve never fallen in love with this mascara.

With that being said, let’s compare the two just by first glance:

So as you may or may not be able to tell; straight off the bat L’oreal has more length where as Too faced has more volume and curl. You can really see it in my bottom lashes. The formula is the reason behind that.

With L’oreal you have a very wet formula resulting in a long, straight lash. Too faced has a thick, almost goopy consistency which gives you that volume and curl.

Although L’oreal doesn’t give me the curl I’m looking for, I for some reason love it just a little bit more? Is it the cheap girl in me convincing myself the more cost friendly option is better? Maybe.

So are they dupes? Nope. I would say they’re extremely different mascaras with different claims and formulas. The only thing they have in common is the pretty pink packaging which made us all scream out “DUPE!”

Do I recommend the L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise? For sure. I definitely think you should try it out. It’s cheap, gets the job done and lasts pretty damn well.

Have you guys tried out either of these? What are your thoughts?
